Privacy Policy
How FoodPlacee handles information from diners, owners, and visitors.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how FoodPlacee ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website and food discovery service. We believe in collecting the minimum data needed to operate a useful food platform — and being transparent about how that data is handled.
This policy applies to all visitors, diners, restaurant owners, and partners who interact with FoodPlacee.
2. Information We Collect
FoodPlacee collects limited information needed to operate a food discovery platform. We classify it into four categories:
A. Information you give us
- Contact form submissions — name, email, message, topic, and any related URLs you provide.
- Listing submissions — business name, address, phone, website, menu link, hours, cuisine type, owner contact details, and ownership verification info.
- Menu update requests — menu items, descriptions, prices, source notes, and any related URLs.
- Claim requests — owner name, role, business email, business phone, and verification documents.
- Removal & report requests — page URLs, your role, explanation, and supporting evidence.
B. Information from your device
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, OS, screen size, referring URL, and similar metadata needed to deliver the site reliably.
- Usage data — pages viewed, time on page, search queries, filters used, and clicks on listings.
C. Cookies & analytics
- Functional cookies — to remember preferences, dismissed banners, and open accordions.
- Analytics cookies — anonymized usage data such as page views, traffic sources, device type, and rough geographic region.
- Security cookies — to detect abusive traffic, form spam, and fraudulent requests.
See our Cookie Policy for full details and how to manage cookies.
D. Information from third parties
In limited cases, we may receive information from partners (e.g. menu data providers, business listing services) to enrich FoodPlacee pages. We require these partners to follow applicable privacy and data-protection rules.
3. How We Use Information
We use submitted information to:
- Operate and improve FoodPlacee's discovery features.
- Review and apply listing, menu, and ownership requests.
- Respond to support, business, and partnership inquiries.
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraudulent submissions.
- Improve content quality, search relevance, and the discovery experience.
- Communicate with you about updates, changes, or follow-up questions related to your submission.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect FoodPlacee's rights.
We do not use submitted personal information for advertising profiling, retargeting, or sale to third parties.
4. Cookies and Analytics
FoodPlacee uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember basic preferences, and measure aggregate usage. We do not use cookies for advertising profiling or cross-site tracking. See our Cookie Policy for cookie types, durations, and how to manage them in your browser.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share information in these limited cases:
- Service providers — analytics, email delivery, hosting, and security infrastructure providers, under contracts that limit how data can be used.
- Legal compliance — when required by valid legal request, subpoena, or to investigate violations of our Terms.
- Business transfers — if FoodPlacee is acquired, merged, or restructured, your data may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or an updated equivalent.
- With your consent — when you explicitly ask us to share information (e.g. forwarding a claim verification to a partner).
6. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described above:
- Contact form data — typically retained 12–24 months for support history.
- Listing & claim data — retained as long as the listing is active and a reasonable period after.
- Analytics data — aggregated and anonymized; raw event data retained up to 24 months.
- Security & abuse signals — retained longer when needed to prevent recurring abuse.
7. International Data Transfers
FoodPlacee is a global service. Your information may be stored or processed in countries other than your own. When we transfer data internationally, we use safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it consistent with applicable law.
8. Children's Privacy
FoodPlacee is not directed at children under 13 (or the local minimum digital-consent age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of personal data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
You can also:
- Use FoodPlacee without creating an account or providing contact details.
- Request a copy, correction, or deletion of personal data you've submitted via the Contact page.
- Manage cookies and analytics through your browser settings.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, and misuse. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you consistent with applicable law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date and, where required by law, additional notice. Continued use of FoodPlacee after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact
For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email us at foodplacee.com@gmail.com or use the Contact page and select "General support" or "Content removal" as appropriate. Include enough detail (e.g. relevant page URLs or submission references) so we can locate and act on your data.
